An easy way to set reminders for yourself is to create a calendar event on the day you need to start planning for specific events. Set aside 30 minutes of that day so you not only get the digital reminder, but you can take the time to schedule out the other tasks that are associated with that event. Maybe you need to oversee signage creation, special product orders, or a myriad of other tasks. Get your plan ready once you are in the right timeframe to do so.
To-Do List Software
Another great strategy is to use a to-do list software. There are a variety of options for this, including online websites that you can visit, applications for your smartphone, or even applications that you can download to your computer. Use the reminders to your advantage so you can have peace of mind and no worry about all of the different responsibilities you have that are not relevant right now, but will be important in the future. Retail Task Management Software
A workflow and task management software is going to be similar to a to-do list in that you create task reminders with dates. The fundamental difference is going to be the additional accountability of seeing that the tasks are getting done and your ability to track the results through reports. To a user, tasks simply disappear once they are completed, just like a to-do list software. However, the reports will allow you to see that all of the different tasks associated with that seasonal display were setup properly, as well as taken down in time. All you need to do is set up the correct tasks and ask the right questions. Another advantage is that you can set these tasks to reoccur, which gives you a historical record of performance that you can use to analyze why your efforts were successful or not so successful, and make improvements in future years.
Use the Tool
Whatever tool you decide is going to work best for you, be sure to use it. Technology is great because it can allow us to put important tasks from our minds until we need to worry about them. However, if you are switching systems or changing how you do things, be sure to transfer everything over so you do not miss out on those important dates. The notification is only there to remind you to get it done, you still have to be sure and follow through on the actual task.
